Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a brave and great ruler of India. He was born on 19 February 1630 in Shivneri Fort in Maharashtra. Shivaji Maharaj was a great hero who challenged the powerful Mughal Empire.

Shivaji Maharaj was born in the Bhosle family Shahaji Bhosle was his father and Jijabai Bhosle was his mother. From a young age, Shivaji Maharaj has great bravery and military importance. Shivaji Mahraj’s great teacher was his mother. She teaches him the stories of bravery from the history of Ramayana and the Mahabharata, which make a sense of responsibility towards his people and his land.

Shivaji Maharaj faced many challenges and hardships. In the 17th century, Aurangzeb was the ruler of the Mughal Emperor and he wanted to expand his territory and power in India. But, The Shivaji Maharaj stands as a wall in front of Aurangazeb.

Shivaji Maharaj captured the fort of Torna in 1645 at the age of 16. This victory marked the beginning of his military campaigns to establish an independent Maratha kingdom. Over the years, Shivaji Maharaj captured the forts and expanded his territory.

He executed clever administrative reforms, such as the establishment of a council of ministers, known as the Ashta Pradhan, to help him in controlling the kingdom. Shivaji Maharaj’s skill military intelligence and cleverness were on full display during his guerrilla tactics of fight, known as ‘Ganimi Kava’ or ‘War of Deception.’ He used clever strategies, such as guerrilla fight, mobility, and surprise attacks, to outplay the much larger and better-equipped Mughal forces. His fast and powerful successes at forts like Raigad, Pratapgad, and Sinhagad made him stand as a tough warrior king.

Shivaji Maharaj got the title of “Chatrapati” in the ceremony held at Raigad in 1674. This ceremony kept the formal establishment of the Maratha Empire and firmed Shivaji Maharaj’s position as the powerful leader of the Marathas.

The greatness of Shivaji Maharaj is more than his military success. He was a supporter of skill, books, and culture, and his power is understood in Marathi books and planning. He had constructed many forts, palaces, and temples, which stand as proof of his grand vision and architectural legacy.
